Hard and soft light photographs

Photography is known as painting with light therefore the source of light and direction and quality and quantity and colour of the light will effect the image. Today i took photographs to demonstrate the differences between "hard light" and "soft light "

Hard and Soft light photographs taken in a practice session with my Iphone-

Hard Light

Hard light photographs taken with an artificial light source. The light is coming from one direction giving the photographs shadow and this gives the photograph more of a 3D effect.
The light in these photographs is bright therefore there are many shadows so the quality of light is hard. The direction effects the image. The differences between hard and soft light and other aspects of light can effect a whole image and here are the examples.

Soft Light

Soft light images taken with even light intensity outside. The source of the light in these photographs is the sun , diffused by the clouds and fog. The light in these photographs are coming from all directions giving the photograph minimal shadows due to the diffused light. The quantity of the light gives off a fairly bright yet soft and gentle look due to the light being diffused.
